Halloween Special: Bleeding Cupcakes!!!!!!



Yep, Halloween is almost here and Frankfurt is covered with posters announcing Halloween Parties for this Saturday...

However, on Sunday I have to wake up at 5.30 (or earlier)... Yes... I'm a masochist and I signed up as a volunteer for the "Commerzbank Frankfurt Marathon"... so I'll have to be helping the runners and things like that from 6 a.m. so no parties for me, probably... I'm crazy, I know!

In any case, I decided to bake some cupcakes in advance, using some new cupcake cases I got in IKEA and... lots of blood!

Nooooooooooo.... I'm joking!!!!!!!!!!!! It's cherry jam!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually, this is a failed attempt to do jam-filled cupcakes, as the jam decided to pour from the top of the cupcakes (I guess I put too much... but I wanted to finish that jar of jam and didn't know how!!)... Lucky enough, they're even better for Halloween, as they seem to be bleeding!!

The recipe (12 cupcakes):

  • 200 gr sugar
  • 200 gr flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 200 gr butter
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 jar cherry jam (or strawberry, raspberry... whatever...)

Pre-heat the oven to 180ºC. Mix all ingredients as usual (apart from the jam).
Fill 1/3 of every cupcake case with the mix:


Then add a good spoonful of jam:


And then more mixture, until the cases are 3/4 full. Bake for 20 mins and... surprise! they "bleed"!!!!!!!!!

I hope you try these at home... they're just delicious!!!!!! and so EASY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
